  1. What is ADSL/DSL/Broadband?
    • ‘ADSL’, sometimes referred to as DSL or Broadband is a high speed Internet Connectivity method which is the favoured connectivity method in SA and has been for some time. It is known to be the best priced and the most reliable connectivity solution on the market by means of a permanent connection.
  2. Do I need Mr Mail if I already have an ADSL line installed?
    • Yes! When you have your ADSL line at home, you need to then get the data bundle known as an ADSL Cap. This is the amount of traffic you can use when surfing or downloading the Internet as well as when sending or receiving emails.
  3. What is the difference between an ADSL Line and an ADSL Cap?
    • An ADSL line is linked to your phone line at home and is needed to have ADSL/Broadband. An ADSL Cap is the amount of data throughput you can have on your ADSL Line. You need both these items in order to have ADSL. Mr Mail bundles these on our main page as part of a bundled special.
  4. Do I need a separate telephone line to use ADSL?
    • No, ADSL line shares existing line by using a different frequency on that line. You do however need a pots filter which Mr Mail can provide you. This is an inexpensive devise that prevents the ADSL from dropping when phone calls come in our go out. When Mr Mail supplies an ADSL Wireless Router or Wired Router, we provide a POTS Filter free of charge.
  5. If I require ADSL to be installed on my existing phone line, how long does it take?
    • In most areas, where ADSL is available, this should not take longer than one week.
  6. If I do not have phone line, can I get ADSL installed? And how long will it take?
    • Yes, you will need to however apply for the phone line first. Once the phone line is installed, Mr Mail will take over the application and convert your line to ADSL. This process should not take long than 3-4 weeks provided there are lines available in your area and Telkom Exchange supports ADSL. Most areas are fine.
  7. My email address is with another ISP, will my email address work if I move my ADSL line to Mr Mail?
    • Yes, all services can be cancelled with existing ISP and simply ask for the keeping of the email address only. This should not cost more than R30 per month. On moving to Mr Mail, we will help you all the way with the setup and transfer of services, and we will ensure that you can send and receive email from whomever you are with.
